Knowing who you are.

WHO ARE YOU?
Many years ago, slave trade was a lucrative trade in Africa. People were taken out of Africa and sold as slaves to slave masters in some western countries. Now, one strategy the slave masters used to make the slaves lose their identities was to disconnect them from their roots.

SCRIPTURE: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. 1 Peter 2:9.
For example, if they captured a mother and her daughter as slaves, the slave masters would take the mother to one location and then the daughter to a different location. They would disconnect them from their roots to ensure that they do not remember where they came from. They do this to deny them of the knowledge of their true identities. This strategy established the slaves permanently in slavery.
It is very important to understand that one of the most important assets of anyone on earth is the understanding of their true identity. Knowing who you are is critical to life. And one of the worst forms of ignorance on earth is the ignorance of who you are. The evil spirit told the seven sons of Sceva who attempted to cast them out "…Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?" Acts 19:15.
You see, the devil does not care about who you are as long as you are not aware of who you are. If you are a lion and you think you are a sheep, the devil would treat you like a sheep. The ignorance of who you are is one reason why the devil confronts you despite your heritage and identity in God.
Beloved, you are a king and not a slave. Refuse to exist with the mentality of a slave.
(WHAT WE SHOULD DO):
1. Study the Scripture and ask God to help you understand your true identity in Him.
2. Refuse and reject the identity of who you are not.
3. Exist with a healthy sense and consciousness of your identity in Christ Jesus.
