What`s your true measure of success?
We may acquire all these things and still feel empty and
unfulfilled. This explained the reason why some people make millions yet they
are not satisfied, they make billions, and they became more unsatisfied than
before. You know what? They're always trying to make it; ever trying to be
successful; trying to be happy and satisfied. But each time they try, they are
not as happy as the last time. The reason for this is because something is
still missing - the joy that accompanies true success kept eluding them. They
kept on pilling riches upon riches yet they are not satisfied because they fail
to realize that true riches are not in the material things. The Lord Jesus
Christ told us, "For a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the
things which he possesseth."(Lk 12:15 KJV).
The inordinate desire and quest for riches and power have
driven some mad and led them to murder their conscience and shade innocent
blood. But at the end the blood they shade begin to hunt them.
Friends, many are frustrated and caught up in the web of the
deception of riches and power.
Stop pursuing shadow! Don't be carried away with the world
symbol of success. Do you know what they are? They are mere symbols, empty
symbols - a mirage and illusion.
There so many that were raised with good character but now
have laid aside their good character simply because they were challenged by
their peers and colleagues to lay aside their good character in order to get
rich quick. They put aside their good character, their good behavior, their
good reputation and become criminals and thieves either with gun or pen - for
it doesn't make any difference, because that's the cheapest way. They think if
they don't meet up with the society of their day, that they have become a
failure.
Now, what is the benefit of one whom after acquiring all
these things and end up in regrets? All who had toed such line end up feel like
killing themselves. What is the gain? Granted, they're rich but their money is
being used in the bank though any time they need some of it, they give them but
others are using their money.
They pride themselves in what they have got. Of course they
may get richer and richer but they are losing their children to the world
because they have been busy chasing money but don't have time for their
families. What a terrible loss at the end? Let’s think about it, does it worth
it?
I pray that God will
grant us the wisdom to know the difference between true success and vanity, in
Jesus name!
Joe Ubah.
